August unemployment down from last year in Quincy, Adams County

Workforce declines continue though
Unemployment numbers have dropped around the area since last year, statistics that were released Thursday show.
Last month, the jobless rate in Adams County was 6.7 percent. That's down from August of 2011's 7 percent figure. The workforce has shrunk, however, by around 1,000 people year-over-year.
In Quincy, the unemployment rate was 7.1 percent, down from 7.7 last year. The City's workforce has also grown smaller. There were 1,537 people looking for work in Quincy in August.
Around the area, Hancock, McDonough and Pike County saw smaller year-over-year rates. Only Brown County's rose, though it was slight.
