Food will be distributed to area food banks

On Sunday, August 19, as part of the Welcome Weekend activities, members of the Quincy University orientation team and new students came together to collect a total of 5,436 pounds of canned goods and non-perishable items during the 3rd annual QU Cares Food Drive.  The goal of this year’s event was to exceed 5,000 pounds.  Hundreds of students converged on 14th – 30th Streets and Locust – State Streets, to collect food donations. The collections helped support Quincy Catholic Charities, Horizons, Quanada, St. Francis Solanus Parish, and St. John’s Lutheran Church.  The university would like to thank all of those who contributed to this great effort.  The success of this program would not have happened without the support of the community.
