If the only history people learn is what is spoon-fed in public school, they've probably missed out on the part where northern states would capture escaped slaves and send them back to their owners. They've probably missed how northern states that were supposedly "free" wouldn't allow blacks to live within their borders. Everyone wants to turn up their noses at the South, but if you're…

Keep it up people we are setting a precedent and its only as matter of time before the stars and stripes have to be removed/changed due to protest from native Americans, or Al Sharpton (lets be honest the north had slaves just like the south). After that its the Union Jack for centuries of persecution against the scots Irish, and on and on and on. Hell my mere existence as a white male could be offensive…

Illinois group targets lawsuit abuse

10 months ago by Denise Donley

Madison, St. Clair and Cook Counties are known as "judicial hell-holes"

The Illinois Lawsuit Abuse Watch group stopped in Quincy Monday to discuss the effects of lawsuit abuse in the area.

Illinois Lawsuit Abuse Watch is a grassroots legal watchdog group that focuses on educating the public about the adverse effects of lawsuits.

Travis Akin with Illinois Lawsuit Abuse Watch said that everyday people are affected.

“Even if you’ve never been sued or gone through a lawsuit yourself, lawsuit abuse still has an impact on your daily life. It affects the prices of goods and services, you relationships with your friends and families because that threat of litigation is always out there.”

According to a report from Harris Interactive, Illinois is ranked 46 out of 50 states on legal fairness.

“We need reform. Part of the reason Illinois has hellhole jurisdictions is because we don’t have any meaningful reforms on the books. What reforms we have been able to get through the legislature have been overturned by the court.”

Akin says jurisdictions are singled out because there is enough of abuse there to bring the whole state of Illinois down.

“It affects our business climate, it effects business decisions that companies make because companies don’t want to make it easier to get dragged into a courtroom. What makes this lawsuit abuse to prevalent is that Judges allow these things to continue.”
