I don't see why not. Those very same elected officials (at the state level, anyway) seem to think it's perfectly acceptable to renege on established contracts when they decide it cost too much to honor the commitment. Good for the goose, right? (BTW, this isn't an issue of whether you support unions or not. Even if you hate them and think they screwed everyone over with their contracts,…

Hmmm...fox guarding the hen house comes to mind. Maybe somebody should start a petition? One to change council to 7 members, the other for healthcare? Paul Havermale is apparently planning to submit a petition of 500 wanting to save the fire station. We ought to be able to beat that if people really want this. Mind you not many people are running for alderman...so taking away benefits may not be the…

Because if you're just sucking the welfare teat, you're not collecting unemployment, I assume.

We are discussing ways to save money. This is ONE way to save enough money to keep some public safety intact. Just because you seem to have a vested interest in this proposal doesn't mean it should be ignored! Plenty of other city's get by with only 1 city manager, and a part time mayor. I understand the council has made some bone head decisions, but Righty1, I mean Hackamack, has also waisted…

5th annual Ethan's Rodeo is this weekend

8 months, 1 week ago from Ethan's Rodeo committee

In memory of the late Ethan Weiman

David and Alicia Weiman are proud to announce that the 5th Annual Ethan's Rodeo will be held in the main arena at the Adams County Fairgrounds in Mendon, IL on August 15-16, 2014.  Ethan's Rodeo is named in memory of Ethan Weiman, a young cowboy who fought neuroblastoma - a childhood cancer responsible for 15% of all childhood cancer deaths - from 2007-2009.  Ethan's family and friends continue the fight by presenting this event to fund ongoing research of this terrible disease.

Ethan's Rodeo features award winning contestants and livestock, professional rodeo clown Josh “Porkchop” Garrick, and pyrotechnics shows with each performance.  As part of the Outlaw Rodeo 2014 “Mission Impossible” tour, fans will enjoy bull riding, barrel racing, bareback and saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, and roping events.   Ethan's Rodeo is sanctioned by the United Rodeo Association and the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association.

Other highlights will include a stick horse parade before the rodeo each night (kids 10 and under) and a sheep chase during the rodeo (kids 6 and under).  The band Blacktop South will perform after the rodeo each night.

Ethan's Rodeo begins at 7:30pm each night.  On Friday, gates and concessions open at 5:30pm.  On Saturday, the gates and concessions open at 3:00pm for a full complement of family activities including a petting zoo, meet and greet with Porkchop, Broken Spoke Mounted Posse Mounted Shooting Contest, pony rides, bounce house, and much more.

Concession vendors include The Butcher Block, Prairie Farms, Pepsi, Bud Light, Gengenbacher’s Shaved Ice, Spirit Knob Winery, and Honey Creek Kettle Corn.

Tickets are available online at www.ethansrodeo.com, or at the Butcher Block in Quincy, the Barry Travel Plaza, and FS in Camp Point.
