Guard injured in attack Sunday



Cobretti M. Matlick, 19, Nicholas C. Ray, 24, and Jason M. Keller, 23, are each charged with conspiracy, aggravated kidnapping, attempted aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, attempted escape and conspiracy to escape.


Matlick and Ray will have their next court date on August 5, while Keller will be in court August 6.

The names of the three men who tried to escape from the Adams County Jail Sunday afternoon have been released.

Cobretti Matlick, Jason Keller and Nicholas Ray will be formally charged Thursday in Adams County Circuit court.

The three had allegedly planned to take a hostage with home-made weapons and then escape. 


Earlier Story:

Three men attempted to escape from the Adams County Jail Sunday evening.

At around 4:45 p.m., one of the prisoners attacked a guard with a weapon.  

Another Officer was able to restrain the prisoner and prevent the escape.

The three male subjects had homemade weapons that they allegedly had planned to use to escape.

The guard that was struck was later treated and released from Blessing Hospital.

All reports and information have been completed and sent for prosecution. 

Formal charges will be announced in court Thursday.
