QPD finds five-year-old boy home alone and locked in the basement of a Broadway home

Just after 8 p.m. on April 20, Quincy Police officers responded to 2023 Broadway on a report of a check the well being.

Upon arrival, officers were advised that a neighbor could hear what sounded like a child yelling for help from a basement window of the residence and officers determined a child was located in the basement.

Officers entered the residence and found a five year old boy home alone and locked in the basement.

An investigation then led to the arrest of Tricia Franklin of 2023 Broadway.

Franklin faces charges of Unlawful Restraint and Child Endangerment. She was lodged in the Adams Co. Jail.

The child was turned over to DCFS.
