That's interesting, because I've worked for 3 different Fortune 500 companies, and every time I've interviewed FIRST, and then, if they wanted to hire me, that's when they did the background checks. So, major, successful businesses in their actual hiring practices versus guy on the internet saying it should be done differently.. Which to believe, which to believe.....

I am much more cynical than I am naive. There is such a thing as "contempt" which is what should be used here. Disturbances by cell phone users happens all across the planet - no reason why court rooms should be exempt.

Sandra S. Walker, 49, 201 North Ave., Plainville, Il. For Failure to Leave Information When Crashing with an Unattended Vehicle at 4830 Broadway at 1828 hrs of 01/31/14.  Released on NTA. 

Robert A. Perrin, 39, 635 1/2 State, for Possession of Cannabis at 8th Vermont at 1842 hrs of 02/05/14.  Released on cash bond. 

Melanie S. Kroeger, Maywood, MO for Speeding at 22nd & Maine on 2/05/14 at 1727 hrs.  Kroeger was released on PTC.
