Please also keep in mind that 40% of sales tax revenue in Adams county comes from citizens who live OUTSIDE of Adams county who come here from Missouri and surrounding counties to shop and spend their money. So the cost of this project to the residents and taxpayers of Adams County is only about $15M. Granted, those traveling here might not be able to spend as much if the tax is more, but I doubt someone…

CC1 had valid points but I feel that the jail is needed and maybe the price tag can be reduced. A quarter of cent isn't much until you add it up but the need for a new jail outweighs the cost. Yes many taxes once instituted never seem to go away but we will have chance to get rid of politicians who renege on their promise to stop the tax once the jail is paid for. Man and woman accused of stealing from an elderly man

On Sunday, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office ended an investigation with the arrest of Leonna Cheney (age 35) of Quincy and Raun Perrin (age 34) of Quincy.

The Sheriffs office received a report from an elderly male of rural Fowler Illinois in regard to someone stealing money and other valuables from his residence. The sheriff’s office conducted a  surveillance detail, which resulted in a traffic stop and the arrest of these two subjects.  Leonna Cheney and Raun Perrin were found in possession of stolen property and methamphetamine. 

Leonna Cheney (age 35) of Quincy arrested for Financial Exploitation of the Elderly, Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to deliver and Theft.  Lodged in the Adams County Jail without Bond. 

Raun Perrin (age 34) of Quincy arrested for Financial Exploitation of the Elderly, Possession of Methamphetamine and Theft. Lodged in the Adams County Jail without bond.
