I used the word "freely", which does NOT mean "I got an ID for free". As to your other point, all I'll say is that your experiences are not mine, and mine are not yours... Whether you want to believe it or not, there are Americans who through no particular fault of their own, are not capable of acquiring an ID.

Bruce Blevins is accused of running a shake and bake meth lab

On Wednesday, the West Central Illinois Task Force and the Adams County
Sheriffs Office executed a search warrant at 208 S. 12th Street, Apartment
B in Quincy.  Seized during the search was a shake and bake methamphetamine
laboratory, components used in the manufacturing process, and crystal
methamphetamine.

Resident Bruce A. Blevins, age 29 was located at 20th and Cedar shortly
after the execution of the warrant.    Blevins was arrested on the charges
of Aggravated Unlawful Participation in Methamphetamine Production,
Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Materials, Unlawful
Possession of Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Use of Property.

Blevins was transported to the Adams County Jail were he remains lodged.
The Illinois State Police Meth Response Team was activated to dispose of
the lab materials.
