The announcement came a couple hours after Democratic challenger Bill Daley ripped Quinn on the issue
From from chicagotribune.com:
Gov. Pat Quinn today said he has told his budget office not to release any more money for Capitol renovations after the $50 million project has come under criticism.
The announcement came a couple hours after Democratic challenger Bill Daley ripped Quinn on the issue as he questions the governor's management skills and accused him of blaming extravagant statehouse repairs and a lack of progress on the state’s pension debt on others.
Quinn's move could be largely symbolic in the short term, given the money for the Capitol's West Wing repairs already is spent. But his decision could impact future work on other parts of the Capitol.
The Capitol renovation has become a political football in Illinois politics.
