Oh yeah...and you can bet the retirement income tax will never fly here as all the unions will be affected with their pensions...including lawmakers.... So any bets on the success of that part? Now the continuation of the "temporary" tax is a sure thing. We all knew that lie when we heard it the first time.
What's perfectly reasonable is for Illinois, the Feds, and every other government entity to quit spending tax dollars on things they shouldn't. Stick to the basic functions of government. The $55M example in this article is only one small part of what is wasted constantly.
In a perfect world, what you said works. People only call in sick when they're sick and can't work. But, like always it's not a perfect world. I know people who magically call in sick every time they get a pay stub showing that they have 8 hours of sick time accrued.
