Budget will be voted on in September
The Quincy School Board will consider an overall budget of $77.2 million dollars for the new school year.
The budget will run a $1.1 million deficit because of capital spending for life safety projects, according to District Business Manager Joel Murphy, who said most of the individual funds are balanced.
The Education Fund budget, which is the largest part of the budget and contains most staff salaries, is balanced at $52.9 million.
The tentative budget was presented at Tuesday morning’s Finance Committee meeting and was sent to the Quincy School Board, which meets Wednesday night. The budget will be available for public viewing for 30 days and the Board will vote on it at its September 23 meeting.
Wednesday night’s meeting is at 7 p.m. and will be held at Ellington School as the Board is touring district facilities and meeting at a different building each month.
