Boats take over the Hannibal and Quincy waterways this weekend

The Quincy Classic Boat Show has grown to be one of the Midwest premiere events.  Over 75 classic boats participated in 2011 and more are expected for the 2012 show at the Quincy Boat Club this weekend.  The show starts with an exciting 17 mile boat run from Hannibal, MO. to Quincy on the Mississippi river.  Trailered classic boats will launch at 1pm in Hannibal at the public launch ramp.

"To be able to  make a 17 mile run on the Mississippi with one lockage is quite a trill to these classic boat enthusiast coming to Quincy for the weekend from across the country," says Mississippi Valley Chapter President Marty Haugh of the Antique Classic Boat Society.  "Besides the Midwest region of classic boats, the Quincy show drew boats from as far away as Colorado and the East Coast last year!"

Boats will be on display at the Quincy Boat Club Saturday from 9am to 4pm before they make a 3 mile trek up river to the Island Club for an evening cookout!  The show will resume on Sunday from 9am to noon.  The show will feature Penn Yan and Yellow Jacket boats, both wood boat builders from the 1950's and early 1960's. Besides the the two featured boat builders, the show will have all types and brands of classic wood, fiberglass and aluminum boats participating!
